Anticipated Water Restrictions For This Year

  • Water restrictions are being relaxed for the year.  Please try to adhere to the following rules:

  1. No outdoor watering between 10 AM and 6 PM (Minimizes water evaporation)
  2. Try to limit watering to every other day

  • Allowed variations to the above restrictions:

  1. Seeding new lawns will require more frequent watering.
  2. New sod will also require additional watering until established and then revert to rules above.

  • These restrictions may change but as of March 2025, it appears we will have adequate water.

Location of Water Meters

Recently there have been incidents in which meters installed within concrete, asphalt or other paved driveways and lids or rings have been damaged due to vehicle traffic.  In addition, meters surrounded by pavement are difficult, if not impossible, to perform maintenance, repair or replacement without removing the concrete.

Please be advised that on 7 March 2019, the Mutton Hollow Board resolved that the homeowner is responsible for any excessive costs for the maintenance, repair or replacement of any meters installed within concrete, asphalt or other paved surfaces.

Pressure Reducing Station Replacement Update

  • On Thursday, 20 Mar 2025, we began the rebuild of our 12" Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) at approximately 517 E Mutton Hollow Road.   This valve controls the pressure and flow to all homes west of the address above.  We will accomplish additional work on the valve Monday, 24 Mar 2025.  During this maintenance you may experience water pressure variations.
  • On Friday, 21 Mar 2025, we began the 4 inch PRV replacement project located at the same address location as above.  This replacement involved a 10 hour water outage.  We are happy to report this valve was successfully replace and is now in operation.  This valve was originally installed in 1967 and repair parts were hard to obtain and very expensive.
  • Both these valves are located in a concrete vault under Mutton Hollow Road.  The smaller valve provides water to homes most of the time and the larger one only on high water demand days.  High demand is usually in the summer for watering, halftime during the Super Bowl (bathroom breaks) and during a fire event.
  • On Tuesday, 6 May 2025, we began the excavation of the manhole ring on the vault to provide clearance to lower the new 800 lb pressure reducing valve into the vault.  This was completed successfully with no water outage required.
  • On Wednesday, 7 May 2025 starting at 9 am the water was turned off and we began replacing the damaged pressure reducing valve with the new one.  Removing the old valve was a slow and laborious job.  We had 24 corroded nuts and bolts that had to be removed.  Once removed we lowered the old valve move it to the hole and lifted it out with a tractor.  The new one was lifted into position and bolted to our mainline.  Once the valve was reassembled and we began filling the mainline with water at about 4 pm.  We flushed all fire hydrants between the 630 E Mutton Hollow Road and Boynton Road and Mutton Hollow Road.  The system was fully pressurized by 6 pm with the new valve working perfectly.
  • On 8 May 2025, water samples were taken from 4 homes along Mutton Hollow Road.  The Weber Basin Water Lab said the results will be available Friday afternoon (9 May 2025)
  • Thanks for the support we had undertaking this major repair to our water system.  The last valves have been in service for over 25 years and we expect to get at least that much on these two new valves.
